Aware of the nutritional importance, goodness and culinary versatility of the species we fish, OP-ANACEF has been launching the ‘We like fish’ campaign since 2021 with the aim of promoting fish consumption, promoting and generating economic activity in the area and giving consumers access to healthy and wholesome products.
In this 2024 edition, we want to pay tribute to the African communities of the countries where our fleet operates (Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Angola, Guinea Bissau and Morocco) through the publication of a recipebook that aims to be a tribute to everything that unites us with the fishing communities of the African continent. The participating African chefs bring us the aromas of their land, their deep-rooted traditions, so that we can savour the sea in the cuisine of the neighbouring continent.
Africa, with its rich coastline in biodiversity and ancient cultures linked to the sea, has been a source of inspiration and learning for OP-ANACEF. Throughout all these years, we have had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with local fishermen, learn their traditional techniques and share our own practices of sustainable management of marine resources. This exchange has not only strengthened responsible fishing but has also allowed us to discover other cultures and strengthen ties between our communities. This recipebook brings together a selection of recipes in which fish is the protagonist, combining ingredients and flavours that represent both the fishing tradition of African regions and the innovation that OP-ANACEF promotes in its methods.
